AAP is providing free emergency roadside service to front liners.

The COVID-19 pandemic is wrecking the world as we know it. Crippling the lives of many, forcing governments to shut down their countries, and pushing their economies to the edge of collapse.

With the COVID-19 statistics expected to spike due to expanded mass testing, the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine which started on March 16 has been extended to April 30.

During this period, the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP)  joined the rest of the country in the fight against COVID-19 through various initiatives.

AAP implemented work-from-home arrangements for all office-based employees, while the field operations unit continued with a skeletal workforce in order to continue towing and rescue services along the major expressways in Luzon that are the primary transport routes of agricultural products and other basic necessities.

On March 27, AAP started providing free Emergency Roadside Service (ERS) to doctors, nurses, caregivers, delivery men, quarantine law enforcers, garbage collectors, and other front liners to make sure that they could carry on with their work to help Filipinos.

AAP ERS provides free towing of class 1 vehicles or government-marked vehicles to the nearest exit along North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway, South Luzon Expressway and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway.

Front liners only need to present their company ID or any information confirming their front liner duties.

AAP is also donating to medical institutions twenty percent (20%) of the proceeds from online renewals of AAP Membership and Philippine International Driving Permits (PIDP).

On April 3, 2020, AAP delivered its first donation to the Lung Center of the Philippines where long-time AAP member Dr. Norberto A. Franciso is a front liner. Using 20 percent of the membership renewal fees paid during the initial lockdown period, the National Auto Club purchased and donated surgical masks, food and bottled water.

The promo is still ongoing and will end on April 30. Those who are interested to apply for membership or to renew their AAP Membership or PIDP can go through the online process at www.aap.org.ph.

Additionally, last March 19, through the AAP Cares initiative, employees voluntarily distributed basic necessities such as food and face masks to the security personnel, gas station attendants and other front liners as well as to some of the homeless and informal settlers near the AAP main office in Quezon City..

Through AAP’s AAP social media accounts, emails and text blasts, the National Auto Club has been disseminating useful information regarding the virus, local government updates like quarantine checkpoints plus motoring, car care and road safety tips.

AAP is also posting videos of members and their personal AAP membership stories to highlight some positive news during these trying times. For anyone who would like to share their personal experience as an AAP member, please contact us through the Automobile Association Philippines official Facebook page.

AAP believes that if we stand as one with our government and our people, we can conquer the COVID-19 pandemic.
