AAP Conducts Road Safety
Seminar in Malacañang
More than a hundred drivers of the Malacanang Motorpool attended the Road Safety Seminar conducted by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) at the Mabini Hall of Malacanang last month. The seminar aims to upgrade the driving skills of participants and teach them safe driving habits.
AAP Vice President and Road Safety Committee Chair Johnny Angeles, the main speaker, said: “Every day, around the world, some 3,500 persons are violently killed in road crashes. These people leave home and never return, adding to the long list of people killed globally on the road.”
Rally Racing Champion Vip Isada, who also spoke at the seminar, talked about defensive driving and how it can save the lives of both driver and passengers. Isada taught the participants how to combine practicality, convenience and safety when driving a motor vehicle.
As part of the seminar, Angeles led the participants in taking the Road Safety Pledge in support of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 campaign which aims to save five million lives worldwide.
