The Automobile Association Philippines is set to host the 22nd AAP Motor Sport Awards Night on March 30, 2017 at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City in tandem with the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS.)

AAP—the sole organization in the country affiliated with and authorized by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to regulate and sanction local four-wheel motor sport events— will award trophies to the champions of the Philippine Touring Car Championship Series (PTCC), National Karting Series, Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC), GT Series and Vios Cup.

The FIA governs all four-wheel motor sport activities worldwide including Formula One, the World Rally Championship and 24 Hours at Le Mans.

AAP motor sport operations manager Mark Desales said that AAP will also award the overall champion of the Flatout Race Series and honor two 4x4 drivers of year: one in the pro-class, and the other in the production class.

In previous years, AAP awarded notable personalities such as Milo Rivera and Carlos Anton (who bagged the top prize in country team category at the Taiwan Auto Gymkhana Prix on September 25-26, 2016) and Marlon Stockinger (member of the Lotus F1 Team Juniors in the 2013 World Series by Renault), among others.

AAP Trustee and Motor Sport Chair Mandy Eduque expressed his appreciation to those who participated in the sanctioned races last year and said that AAP is intensifying efforts to get more participants to support such programs.

“I would like to congratulate the winners in the events that they have participated in and dominated. Each one of you deserves to be winners for the sanctioned races held in the year that was,” Eduque said.

“We hope that everyone continues to support the Philippine motor sport scene by actively participating only in events sanctioned by AAP. Let us help one other in preserving our passion for motor sport. Let Philippine motor sport be fun and safe that way that it was designed to be.”
